Power

Project Bob: I may or may not have created this entire project so that I could relive the scene of staring at the ammeter in Apollo 13.

Power benchmarks have started. The Pi needs cores disabled, I think we can shave a watt off. The servo drive for the propeller drive system is also burning a watt. I really want to run multiple Pis, but the 100mbs network switch alone draws 3 watts Anyone have a source for an ultra low power switch? Maybe should go wifi on the secondary Pi.

Progress on purchasing! The money has hit the bank account. Once again, I'm speechless in the face of ya'lls generosity. Every single person that donated even $5 will get their name on the sponsor list. We'll laser engrave a plaque with a list of everyone to mount on the prow.

Bought:

  • MPPT charge controller

  • LiFePO4 cells

  • Sunpower 100w solar arrays

  • RasberryPIs

  • Stainless triclamp hardware for avionics pods

  • Starlink mini

Manufacturing of the hull should start in ~2 weeks. We're waiting on the foam to be delivered from the supplier.
